MiG : Chapter 3

Unveiling Truths

Vanessa stepped into her room, feeling the weight of the day settle on her shoulders. The events of college lingered in her mind, but she pushed them aside as she reached for her bag. With a sigh, she pulled out the notebook she had found in the hallway earlier that day.

The notebook felt heavy in her hands, its presence a silent invitation to unravel its mysteries. Vanessa flipped open the cover, revealing a quote scrawled across the first page: ‘What you see is not always the truth.’ Intrigued, she turned to the next page, dated 1st Jan. 2024.

As Vanessa delved into the diary, the writer’s words painted a vivid picture of their innermost thoughts and experiences. She felt a sense of connection to the unknown author, their struggles and aspirations resonating with her own.

“Happy New Year,” the diary began, “it’s the first day of the year. This start is perfect to start new things because it is Monday today along with the new year, so I guess there are no excuses this time.”

Vanessa’s eyes scanned the page, absorbing the writer’s reflections on life and the pursuit of happiness. With each word, she felt herself drawn deeper into their world, empathizing with their struggles and celebrating their triumphs.

“Everyone looks at me and sees a perfect life, many friends, no problems, enjoying every minute of life… I do enjoy my life, have people to talk to (sometimes), but what you see is not always the truth or it is not complete.”

The writer’s candid revelations struck a chord with Vanessa, resonating with her own experiences of navigating the complexities of social expectations and personal struggles.

“Ahhh!! I genuinely thought it’s easy to write but no kidding it’s not even if you are writing a diary. There is so much I want to write but I don’t know where to start from.”

Vanessa couldn’t help but smile at the writer’s candid admission, feeling a sense of kinship with their struggles to articulate their thoughts and emotions.

“I guess I will start writing with a little about myself,” the diary continued, “So I’m a college student who gets to interact with his classmates only when they need help with anything or when they have no one else around to talk to…”

As Vanessa read on, she found herself captivated by the writer’s narrative, each word unveiling a new layer of their identity and experiences. She felt a growing sense of connection to the unknown author, their words resonating with her own journey of self-discovery.

“It’s getting late so will write more later,” the diary concluded, “it is not that difficult to write a diary I guess.”

With a contented sigh, Vanessa closed the diary, feeling a sense of gratitude for the glimpse into the writer’s world. She tucked the notebook away, eager to continue her exploration of its secrets in the days to come.

As she drifted off to sleep, Vanessa couldn’t shake the feeling of anticipation that lingered in her mind. The diary held countless tales waiting to be unveiled, and she was determined to uncover them all.
